The NTBC congregation is committed to being INTERNALLY STRONG and EXTERNALLY FOCUSED. We value greatly the study of God's Word and the worship of our mighty God. As a body of believers we take care of one another and love being together. Local ministries provide opportunities to reach into the community with the love of Jesus Christ. As an Internally Strong Church we are able also to be an Externally Focused Church. At NTBC, the local ministries are also referred to as EDGE events -- Every Disciple Growing Externally.
Many of these ministries are active all year. Every Fall, NTBC has a
Season of Serving which provides the congregation opportunities to become involved in various aspects of these local ministries during the holiday season.
Every year volunteers from NTBC make hundreds of blankets for children. The blankets are donated to children in difficult situations throughout Columbia, including other ministries though the church, like Hall Institute. Church members donate the material.
When a youth is discharged from Hall, the NTBC volunteers are contacted and they prepare an “exit" gift which includes a Bible in a translation easy for a young person to read and a homemade blanket. Twice a year the NTBC volunteers prepare a special meal for the young people and the workers. Monthly NTBC provides homemade and decorated Birthday cakes for the wards at Hall Institute.
Twice a year NTBC provides over 400 hygiene for the homeless population in downtown Columbia, in partnership with Keepin' it Real Ministries. The congregation donates the items and youth in the Student Ministry pack the bags.
A group of church members lead worship services in several assisted living communities in Columbia, including National Health Care, Holiday Retirement, Sterling House, The Palmettos, HCR ManorCar and the Atria. For more information on this ministry contact
