David holds a Master of Divinity degree from Columbia Biblical Seminiary (CIU) with a concentration in pastoral leadership. He has been in Christian ministry for many years in various roles ranging from youth work to hospital chaplaincy to education ministry to pastor of a church. David and his wife Janie are a ministry team that loves people and have a heartfelt call to meet their needs in good times and trying times. They have been married for 27 years and love to visit and fellowship with people together.
Johnny Weldon joined our staff at the beginning of 2014. He earned a BA in Bible-Theology from Moody Bible Institute, as well as a Masters of Pastoral Counseling and a Masters of Divinity from Columbia International University. Johnny has served in full-time ministry since 1997. Among the ministries he has been involved in, 8.5 years were on the mission field in Belize with Pioneers Missions and he also pastored FaithPoint Fellowship of Orangeburg, SC for 4 years. He enjoys working with people through discipleship, preaching, teaching, and having as much fun as possible. He and Rachel have two daughters, Jasmine and Rosalynn. His hobbies mostly center on enjoying the outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, etc.
Russell Patterson joined our staff in August of 2015. He comes to North Trenholm having served in administrative roles with five churches in SC and VA, as a regional consultant for LifeWay Christian Resources and Director of Stewardship Development for the SC Baptist Convention. He is a graduate of Carson Newman University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
Russell is a Certified Church Business Administrator. Russell and his wife Wanda have been married for over 30 years. They have a grown daughter who lives in the Upstate and a son who attends Winthrop University.
Michael earned his bachelors degree from Bluefield College a Virginia Baptist College where he studied music and psychology. He went on to earn his Masters of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Michael completed several years of postgraduate training in pastoral care and counseling. Michael grew up in a military family and was able to continue the tradition of military service as a Chaplain in the United States Army. He has served as Chaplain for several hospitals and as a volunteer for Cayce Department of Public Safety. He is a member of the South Carolina Department of Public Safety Emergency response team having been certified in both individual and group crisis intervention. He is also certified to teach child abuse and prevention through Darkness to Light. He has served churches in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. Michael is married to Ginger Abbott of Irmo. They have two children Austin (17) and Cory (13). In his spare time Michael is actively involved in public education at the district and state level. He enjoys watching his boys compete in football and baseball for Irmo High School and is a professional photographer.
Jonathan Hazle is our Interim Student Pastor/Worship Leader. Jonathan grew up in Gaffney, South Carolina. He is pursuing a degree in Christian Studies from Liberty University's Online program. Jonathan married his wife, Kelsey in 2016. Kelsey is a kindergarten teacher at Bethel Hanberry Elementary in Blythewood.
Karlita Patrick joined our staff in August 2015 as the Interim Director of Children's Ministries. Karlita is from Ohio and attended the University of Toledo majoring in Education. She has been a very active member of North Trenholm Baptist Church since 1996. She has directed Vacation Bible School, taught Sunday School, leads the Children's large group time with her husband and is the director of the Power Up Children's Music ministry. Karlita and her husband Tony have a wonderful family Brent, Ashley, Bryce, Kylie and their granddaughter Collins. Karlita enjoys spending time with her family, watching Bryce play baseball and reading.
A native of Columbia, Melody graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1980. She attended Columbia College and Morehead State University. Melody was the Mother's Morning Out coordinator prior to her present position. She has been a member at NTBC since 1973. She lives with her husband, Tom, and their two children, Kristen and Kayla. Her hobbies and interests include family outings, horses, music and handbells.
Beth Knott is a life long member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. She began her working career in the NTBC Weekday Education program in Extended Care. Upon graduation from the University of South Carolina with a BA in Psychology, Beth taught 3 year olds for 6 years at NTBC Weekday Education. She taught 2 years at Forest Lake Elementary in Special Education and has been the Art & Music teacher for the last 16 years at Ben Lippen Elementary. Beth has served every age group at NTBC from babies to senior adults with a 23 year stop in youth ministry. Hobbies include kayaking, cooking, decorating, snow skiing, traveling and spending time with her family.
