Every Disciple Growing Externally

Life on the EDGE

Every Disciple Growing Externally

Hannah House is a faith-based transitional housing facility serving the Columbia area. The program is designed to foster personal and spiritual growth in the life of our residents by offering more than shelter and offers the opportunity for a life change. During the 2008 Christmas season, NTBC volunteers decorated the House with Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree. Connection Classes and other volunteers have donated personal items for the residents and we have a mentor that meets regularly with some of the children of the House. In March of 2009, we will be painting some rooms as well as a mural on a wall in the dining hall.

Palmetto Place is a temporary home for children place by local DSS when they must be removed from their homes because of abuse, abandonment or neglect, or when their parents are incarcerated or even hospitalized and the children have no place to go. While at Palmetto Place, children receive medical, mental health and dental care; nutritious meals; and clothing and personal care items. The children can participate in a wide variety of recreational and social activities. During the 2008 Christmas season, NTBC volunteers decorated the House with Christmas decorations and a Christmas tree. They also had a little Christmas party bringing food and making crafts with the children.

Epworth Children's Home Since 1896, Epworth Children’s Home has been a place for children to grow, learn and be loved. Children come to us from broken family systems and our goal is to nurture and love them by providing residential care, educational assistance, counseling services, medical attention and spiritual enrichment. Our aim is to break the destructive cycle of abuse, neglect and shame and replace it with an opportunity for each child to live a life of self-respect, responsibility and productivity. In March 2009 NTBC will partner with other churches in the community to help the staff and children of Epworth paint, do yard work and several other odd jobs around the home.

Providence Home for Men is a temporary Christian home for men. The first Tuesday of every month, NTBC provides dinner for the 36 men who live there.

Fire Station Appreciation Meals - We have provided Gills Creek Fire Station and Dentsville Fire Station an evening meal to show how much  we appreciate all they do for our community.

Letters to the Military - Many soldiers are deployed and away from their families. Their service to our country affords us the liberties we often take for granted and we want to say thank you. For Christmas 2008 and Valentines 2009 we collected over 200 letters. We send the letters to a main site and they send them to the soldiers overseas.
